Intensive Care
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is also often
called the Critical Care Unit. Here patients receive constant,
specialized care and close monitoring. The ICU provides
special care from a team of experts. The ICU at Mark Twain St.
Joseph's Hospital is licensed for 8 patients; each patient has a
private room that is in direct view of the Nurses' Station at all
times. Each patient room has a full compliment of medical equipment
and monitors to ensure every patient has the best care possible.
You cannot find a better equipped or staffed ICU anywhere.
Linda Thompson, RN, is the department
manager and Dr. Randall Smart is Clinical Service
Director. For more information contact the
Unit at (209) 754-2543.
A Team of Caring Providers
Our ICU nursing staff work very closely with the Medical Staff
physicians to provide around-the-clock care to our most critical
patients. The ICU Department has also recently implemented a
Rapid Response Team (RRT), part of the National Patient Safety
Goals, to provide immediate intervention and better outcomes for
patients requiring additional attention.
