Cardiopulmonary Services Include:
Respiratory
Therapy
Most people take breathing for granted.
It's an involuntary reflex. But for those who suffer with
breathing problems, each breathe is a major accomplishment.
These people may be suffering from a chronic lung disease, or have
acute problems, which can be reversed with respiratory
treatments. Respiratory Care Practitioners are a vital part of
Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital's health care team. They are
on duty to respond to life saving emergencise, provide therapeutic
treatments, diagnostic testing and ventilator care. MTSJH
therapists are all State licensed Respiratory Care
Practitioners.
Electrocardiogram
An EKG is a safe and painless test that
records electrical impulses normally produced by the heart.
Your doctor may recommend an EKG for various reasons, including
chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, and irregular heart
beat.
Cardiac Stress
Test
A cardiac stress test is an EKG performed
while you are exercising to determine how your heart responds to
physical stress.
Pulmonary Function
Test
PFTs measure the health of your lungs, and
enable your doctor to detect changes in respiratory function.
Many causes of lung problems can be successfully treated when
detected early.
