Weight Management Program

About the Program
Today, over 60% of all Americans are overweight or obese, an increase of more than 30% in just the last decade.

Limited access to exercise, an over-abundance of convenience foods, and increasing levels of stress have created a near-epidemic health risk for people of all ages.

Losing weight on your own can pose further health risks when nutrition, your physical condition and existing medications are not professionally evaluated prior to attempting to lost weight. Starving yourself is not the answer.

THE GOAL OF OUR PROGRAM
You will be provided with the tools to help you regain control of your weight. The skills you learn will keep the weight from returning through a combination of nutrition, exercise and an awareness of how medications play a role in weight management and general health.

How Does It Work?

Consultation and Evaluation
Each participant is thoroughly evaluated in terms of current health, nutritional profile, exercise capabilities, and pharmacology (the medications being taken and the effects those might have on weight and health). Our consultation and evaluation are comprehensive and medically-based.

Develop a Collaborative Plan
You, your physician, and skilled program personnel work together to develop a medically prudent nutrition and exercise plan individualized to your own needs and capabilities that will be comprehensively monitored. Exercise periods and expanded classroom sessions are components of the plan, as may be physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, a registered dietician, and psychological support, if required.

Monitor Results
Your progress will be thoroughly monitored in relation to your fitness and nutrition profiles.

Program Duration
Following your evaluation, you will participate in two phases of the program. Phase I - we provide a safe, motivating and comfortable place to begin your weight management plan, as

  • Phase One uses only the staff and facilities of the hospital. Duration of this clinical phase is 24 weeks.
  • Phase II - after you attain the initial health improvement, you may continue your plan at a local health/fitness facility. Follow-up monitoring will be available by our Weight Management Program staff.

Weight Management for Life
As a result of the program, you will have the tools and skills to successfully manage your weight, and your health, for life.
