Physical Therapy is a health and rehabilitation profession. Physical Therapists are health care professionals who work with people of all ages to evaluate and treat health problems resulting from injury or disease. Physical therapists assess joint motion, muscle strength and endurance, and function of the heart and lungs, and performance of activities required in daily living, among other responsibilities. The goal in physical therapy is to help restore the body to its normal state of health to ensure people function at their highest possible level and avoid hurting themselves at work or play.
Physical Therapists can:
- Evaluate physical problems
- Increase and maintain muscle strength and endurance
- Restore and increase joint range of motion
- Increase coordination and flexibility
- Relieve pain and decrease inflammation and muscle spasms
- Promote healing of soft tissue lesions
- Prevent contracture and deformity of limbs
- Alleviate walking problems
- Re-educate patients and families about their care
Treatments may include:
- Modalities, which utilize heat, cold, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation
- Soft tissue treatments
- Return to sport/cardiovascular training
- Joint mobilizations
- Therapeutic exercises
- Training in activities of daily living
- Body mechanics/posture training
- Balance re-education

Physical Therapy services are provided by Licensed Physical Therapists and Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants. Our department has extensive experience in working with people of all ages.
Physical Therapy visits must be prescribed by a physician and can be billed to a variety of private insurance plans, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and Workers' Compensation plans.
Physical Therapy hours are 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM and are closed from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM for lunch. To schedule an appointment, please call (209) 754-2609.
