Murphys Creek Theatre presents professional-quality, live theatre in Murphys, including the acclaimed “Theatre Under the Stars” summer outdoor festival at Stevenot Winery. The Bear Valley Music Festival was voted the best summer attraction in the Central Sierra, offering excellent classical, jazz and popular music. Ironstone Vineyards Summer Concert Series features outstanding entertainment in a unique setting, voted the best place to see live music in Calaveras County. Black Oak Casino and Jackson Rancheria Casino and Hotel offer 24 hour gaming fun with restaurants and bars and top name entertainment.

Outdoor Activities
Nine lakes are open to the public for fishing and recreating. Watersports include everything from house-boating to river kayaking. From crisp running streams to colorful spring wildflowers and brilliant fall foliage, both road riders and mountain bikers can see the best of Calaveras County’s four seasons.

Prefer sleeping under the stars? Pack up your gear and head to one of Calaveras County’s many public or private campgrounds where you will find everything from rustic tent campsites in the scenic high country to full-service private RV resorts.

Golfers get it in Calaveras County on five public courses. The courses are legendary with challenges for every caliber of golfer.

Recreational Centers
The Copper Creek Equestrian Ranch provides full service horse boarding, riding lessons, training for horses and riders of all ages, ranch rides. Bear Valley Mountain Resort is a spectacular snow sports destination, boasting high quality and quantity of snowfall, averaging over 30’ annually at the 8,500’ summit. Accommodations, shops, restaurants, cross country, snowshoeing, sledding and snowmobiling nearby. Big Trees State Park features two magnificent groves of giant sequoias as well as over six thousand acres of pine forest. Ironstone Vineyards entertainment complex is open daily offering tours and tasting. Tours feature an aging cavern, landscaped gardens and an amphitheatre.
