Admitting and Registration

Upon Your Arrival To The Hospital

Patients should arrive at the hospital at least 15 minutes prior to any scheduled tests to be registered.

  1. The patient should sign in at the Information Desk with the Auxiliary Volunteer.  The Volunteer will need to know if the patient has a scheduled appointment, the time of the appointment, and what services (e.g. Lab, Stress Test, X-ray, etc) the patient is scheduled for.
  2. The patient will be seated until a Customer Service Representative is free to register the patient.  This is an attempt to provide some privacy while registering.
  3. At registration, the CSR will need to copy the patient's insurance card (insurance companies require copies made for each visit).  A copy of the physician's orders for the test being done will also be needed.  This is required by law - and must include the patient's diagnosis or ICD-9 code for lab tests.
  4. After registration, the patient will be seated in the Lobby and the appropriate Department will call his or her name.
  5. Occasionally, an emergency patient is given precedence over a scheduled patient, which may prolong the wait.  Patients are asked to notify the Auxiliary Volunteer if they have waited longer than 30 minutes after being registered.
